Looks like an affordable means to get into a quad core set up is available at Fry’s this weekend. They’ve got a AMD Phenom X4 9750 with an ECS A770M going for $179.99. Considering the processor alone usually goes for anywhere from $235 to $300, you’ll be getting the processor for a fairly low price and a motherboard for it thrown in for essentially nothing. And with the rock bottom prices of ram these days, with 2 gigs of ddr2 going for 30 bucks or so, in many cases without the need for rebate, this bundle seems to be a good, quick way to into a quad core system. Looks like in-store only, no mention of it on their website, but as most people that have shopped with Fry’s before, they always have pretty decent in-store specials in their daily newspaper ads. If you’ve got a Fry’s in your area, then you should be good to go!!
